Using client-centred care I understand the importance of client-centred care. I know it is vital to start by meeting the client where they are “at” in this process - not where they “should” be. I use a strengths-based approach along with narrative therapy (clients separating themselves from their "problems" so they don't see themselves as the problem and are capable of being part of the solution).
Being told you've been through trauma or are going through trauma is not a criticism or a judgment—it happens to all of us in one way or another. I use trauma-informed care to support you through the trauma you admit you're struggling with or the trauma you might minimize even though your body is showing you you need and deserve support.
